Boracay Island: Beware of Illegal Tour Guides and Commissioners
With the expected influx of tourists this summer, police authorities in Boracay Island intensified their campaign against illegal tour guide and commissioners preying on the visitors of this resort Island.
Police Officer 3 Christopher Mendoza, Police Community Relations Officer of Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC) said only registered tour guides and coordinators are allowed to transact business with tourist.
Mendoza said that they received several complaints against some tour guides and commissioners who took advantage of their guests by overpricing them.
“Some tour guides are collecting money from their guests in advance for some island-hopping activities but does not show up on the scheduled day,” he said.
Mendoza said that BTAC has started confiscating brochures and other marketing materials from illegal tour guides and commissioners mostly roaming at the White Beach area.
